Fundamentals of Engineering Honors Robotics Competition
For their second semester in the OSU FEH program, students are tasked with creating a small autonomous robot to compete in an obstacle course type competition. Teams are composed of four first year engineering students, and machines are designed with the OSU Proteus Controller ( See: https://u.osu.edu/fehproteus/)
Our team's entry, The Brave Little Cheese Grater, won 3rd Place in Outstanding Innovation. Our unique combination of both active and passive solutions to obstacles was sited as our most successful feature.
Tactile Brain Learning Tool Prototype for Blind Students
All Mechanical Engineering students must spend a quarter creating an original device with Arduino. The purpose of my design was to provide an alternative brain tactile graphic that is more accessible to students who are blind or visually impaired. The design uses vibrations, sound, and a braille keypad to indicate different areas of the brain on a 3D model.
Air Piston Machining Project
All Mechanical Engineering students must spend a quarter machining an air piston motor in the ME machine shop. This includes using the shop’s lathe, drill press, and vertical milling machine.
